Why doesnt my download go faster then 5kb/S ????
I am paying for 256kb = 30 kb/S !

Darkstar, if he is using some tunelling protocol like PPTP / PPPoE / L2TP you have to consider that protocol overhead.
256Kbps over pure Ethernet will give about 30KB/s, but not with one of the above protocols. However, the ISPs should also
consider that overhead and compensate the customer.

Also, one have to check his download from several fast-speed sites before claiming that he is not getting his real bandwidth. Though I doubt that Rolf has not done it already.

well i don't pay
the company pays lol

it is something around 35$ i guess
halla2 this speed is without download accelerator
yesterday, my frnd here got something around 900k but with a download acclerator

it is not always that way..
the regular speed is 12-15.
but in lot of time during the day it gets faster or bit slower

Maybe that's because this file has already been downloaded before and you're downloading it from the proxy?
I usually get 20-30 K but when I download the same file a 2nd time i'll get 1mb/s because it would be cached on the proxy that I have set up for my LAN.

to tease u all : i have a free soho broadband connection with avg at 25kb/s, max=32kb/s
idm, never had any probs
upload isnt the best though, 4-5kb/s

If you have soho, it will top at 3.5 -4 kb/s unless you take drugs.

32/8 = 4, that is not counting any network overhead (!) and assuming that you have 100% of the bandwidth.
