and i have also checked out letsmakerobots.com and its very impressive

Sorry for saying this, but Lego is child's play, no matter how advanced those mind-storms bricks are. Robotics is something else. take a look on what i build and you would realize. you only do the programming, putting the bricks together can be made by a child. I also hope that you are not using the bundled Drag and drop programmer :P Im still interested in checking out the robots you built from scratch :) and more about your age and studies if possible . Welcome to Lebgeeks ! :)
And of course ! im interested in discussing these stuff with you :)

Welcome lorcan32,
I have noticed that in many of your posts your are presenting a lot of claims and have never backed them with any sources or proofs! Don't hesitate to show us your work :)
lorcan32
i will as soon as i have access to them :) that should be within the next 3 weeks wheni have access to my home pc at the moment i am stuck with a crappyinternet connection and an annoying netbook.

Lego is not child's play. Mindstorms and NXT take away the mundane stuff and bring out the core of robotics, in a rapid prototype manner. Building robots shouldn't be hard, but fun. Lego makes that more accessible. Engineering and robotics are not necessarily about building things from scratch.
J4D
They bring out the core of nothing ! they are showing you what robotics is. Lego, not you design the sensor nor the actuator. You just assemble!
Lorcan seems to be mini me, and he is heading on a righteous way :)
@lorcan: robotics engineering is a big word ;)
lorcan32
:) That is why i changed it to robot builder. Did you read the message i sent you?

Welcome to the forums lorcan.

By the way i agree with jadberro building robots is more fun when built from scratch. However due to the fact that i am a student prototyping can take a long time, so i prefer spending my limited time building my finshed design from scratch.

Welcome to lebgeeks lorcan.

Thanks everybody for making me feel welcome

Guys, the challenge in robotics is for the robot to be autonomous and perform a specific task.
Example: Ask the robot for a beer, robot recognize your face and voice, autonomously navigate to the kitchen, avoid obstacles, get a beer, return to the living room , and give you the beer.
Excuse my say J4D, building sensors, actuators, pcbs is a child play, the real challenge is the algorithm used to take advantage of the sensors, the motors, cameras....
Anyway, i am very happy that i found amateur lebanese robot builders, cant wait to discuss robotics with you guys
J4D
WAHAHAHAHAHA ! That is the funniest thing i have ever read :D
lorcan32
This is going to get intresting :)

Martin Luther, you revived a year old topic to bash another member? Bad idea.
