A new geek joining the community.

Hello all!

I usually speak French so sorry in advance if I make some mistakes sometimes.

So here I am. I always thought the geek community was almost totally absent in Lebanon. Fortunately, I was wrong! This forum is one proof.

Briefly, I am:

-18 years old
-A real Lebanese geek.
-A fan of technology, science, Japanimation, drawing, "smart" blogging, nature, photography, music and modern art in general.
-A free and independent composer/musician (Artist nickname: DJad) in the Creative Commons community, I recently joined Lebanese Underground.
-A supporter of every alternative, free and independent community in Lebanon (especially news, Internet/technologies and art).
-A fervent defender of secularism, democracy and peace.
-Against any form of segregationism ("Ta2ifieh", for example), politicization and religious extremism.
-Living in South Lebanon
-A new student in the ALBA academy, hoping to develop a real animation sector in Lebanon (What? Who said it was too geeky ;p)
-Oh, and an Alienware regular and laptop owner.

Well, hope we'll spend some good times together! ^^

Welcome to lebgeeks jad.

If you want something designed that probably won't work you get an Engineer.
If you want it to fully work you have a Technician looking over his shoulder.

Hello Jad, welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay!

Give a person some code and he will be fine for a day, teach a person to code and he will be set for life.

"Anytime you find yourself writing code of the form "if the object is of type T1, then do something, but if it's of type T2, then do something else," slap yourself.

I like your music, it has consistency. I think some samples are poor though.
I did some FL myself.

Why not? I'll be curious to hear it! Which one do you want to work on? If the result is good, I could even release it on my official page ^^

:)
The first one I heard is "Illogical World", and I thought the electric snare could use a bit more body.
But overall it's a great song. But first, what software do you use? Just to know if it's possible at all. I use work in FL.

Re: A new geek joining the community.

Seeing you talking about FL, I thought you knew which software I use. In fact, I use FL Studio :p

I know I'm not so good in music: my work is most of the time experimental and has some "poor samples" as you said. I never played any real instrument (Apart from the flute at school :p) and I'm a self-educated. So I usually think my work is not "professional" enough (sounds "draft" sometime).

But I'm optimistic, because I started early (14 years old) and I still enjoy composing and discovering.

Now I guess you'll need the original flp files for your "tweaking". It's possible, but some of my tracks were made using samples, and I don't think I still have those samples in my actual hard-disk. Also, for some of them, you'll need additional VST instruments (I use Addictive Drums and Slayer a lot).
