League of Legends

I was just wondering if anyone is playing this game... i have a fair batch of friends playing Heroes of Newerth in Domnet... and well tbh i cant stand the game ... i find DOTA better by 1000 times, but yeh was wondering if anyone really is playing LOL ... would be nice to have a lebanese team with same time zone to practice with ...

For those that dont know League of Legends is made by some of the creators of DOTA ( guinsoo not icefrog).... and such ... its new heroes new items and all ... and well i find that its just better than DOTA by fixing all the rlly retarded things that were rlly annoying in DOTA ....

The game unlike HON will be free on release only problem is their is no LAN mode maybe thats why HON is more successful ... however knowing piracy and all, im hoping a cracked server will emerge and LAN and networking will be available especially for people like us with shit internet connections!!!!

http://www.leagueoflegends.com/

for more info if anyone is interested...

now some of you might flame and tell me LOL sux and HON is way better ... its a matter of preference and all im just enlightening some people since its seems rarely have people in lebanon truly heard of LOL, HON has had better marketing it seems!

Thanks for your time ... hope you enjoyed the post!

and if any1 wants to compare HON and LOL id gladly open a post about that as well seeing that ive played both fairly enough!

Re: League of Legends

I've been in closed beta for long (haven't followed for a long time). Honestly i liked it at first but then i grew out of it. I find the summoner concept and talent tree concept quite interesting. I'm an avid Dota player and HoN player, honestly i don't think LOL comes even close to HoN in terms of features, gameplay, heroes, items and the lot.

What friends are you referring to? I'm one of the founders of domnet :-)

P.S.: Today is the last day of domnet, closing until further notice.

Re: League of Legends

Hmm …. Personally ive been to domnet once or twice in my life. Thing is though I don’t know if you remember Kane and Punisher from the days war 3 (not DOTA) was famous. Well yeh their my brothers. From domnet I know a few people:  A$$A$$IN, Darkcurse, Znuts, Avak,  Kippi, Testament, Mooncrest and of course THE ONE AND ONLY APPLE PIE …. And the list goes on! Haha I remember seeing apple playing a hunter called xterm during WOTLK he told me he was fucking around on a friend account….  But yeh, I was too young to go to domnet during the days war 3 was famous so I skipped out on most of the fun times and well also the fact that it’s a long trip from where I live.

I started off playing HON and was rlly into it till my brother told me it was shitty and I should rlly try LOL. That’s how personally I got into it.

As for LOL and HON as I said it’s a matter of preference. However, I do not know how long ago u stopped playing LOL. But what you have to understand the items, features, gameplay, heroes and the lot will increase with time as it already has. The thing is LOL was a new concept so for them to develop and grow bigger they need more testing and time than HON … which is mainly a DOTA Clone with few additions so not much to work on when compared to LOL.

Now as you said indeed the summoner spells and masteries are intresting. But with these 2 and runes … it allows for more diversity and teamwork then HON. For example … your teams summonor spells help in team fights…. 2 people take exhaust to make their carries useless for 2 seconds… another one takes rally … and so on and blah blah…. One guy takes fortify so they cant backdoor/push and all..

Runes and masteries kinda make you feel that OK no 2 guys with the same hero are the same….
However atm the grinding to lv 30 is retarded and it might be taken out…. Which gives adv to others and shit…. Its still under discussion

As for denying which is a huge debate… from what ive read the top player in HoN averages 3 denies per game … which is pretty little if you ask me… denying always felt like a chore in DOTA….
Other things… personally I believe the hero design is great… they’ve done some spectacular jobs … also really in LOL I find the roll of tanks more valid and important then HON.

Also when considered your HUB/UI its way better and the mapping showing hero portriats and such is way clearer.

As for items… true their were few theve added up recently… Items are intresting to say the least and I really like the idea of how they fixed some useless retarded shit in DOTA where like for example
Perseverance: 100 % mana regen and health regen … which is kinda dumb since Str heroes have rlly slow mana regen so doesn’t rlly regen then that much
Where as in LOL they put items that give a certain amount of regen/5 seconds … giving a fixed amount

LOL games are faster paced… not much farming … ganking and team fights can start at lv 1 … unlike dota in which you know whose won in 20 minutes but the game drags on to 60 minutes the game will actually finish in 20 minutes in LOL.

But as I said at high end play LOL has more teamwork due to all these compositions and possibilities and coordination required when 2 solid teams are put against each other
.
Another thing about HON … major pro DOTA team will not migrate to HON simply due to the fact that they have to relearn the mechanics and all over again. For example if your player the same hero in both games their attack animations and mechanics along with spell animations and mechanics are different. I remember during the days I used to play, thunderbringer had flawless casting and attack animation making him OP … he could hold 5 people at a tower with ease!

As I said … since we live in Lebanon … we rlly do suffer when it comes to online play and seeing that HON will be LAN giving it a huge advantage over LOL for people like us.

However, if you want more info or to discuss this more and are really interested … heres a link to what some educated people say. As you know most forums are worth wasting your time since you have a lot of tards trolling and saying random shit with 0 backup.

This link here is for LOL it gets good around page 45 so do start reading from there….
http://forums.sirlin.net/showthread.php?t=2410

They also have a HON topic in the forum if you do wanna read that too.

P.S: IM sorry to hear that domnet is closing... i do hope everything works out and wish you the best luck with that issue!

OFCOURSE i know your brothers send them my regards! as well as most of the names you mentioned. Apple is a close friend of mine as well, the hunter was my Vanilla and TBC WOW character. I passed it along to apple because i grew sick of it.

Correct, this was innovative, but it gives higher level players an edge over lower level ones, so that's a disadvantage especially when it comes to competitive play.

As for denying which is a huge debate… from what ive read the top player in HoN averages 3 denies per game … which is pretty little if you ask me… denying always felt like a chore in DOTA….

Denying is a huge factor in Dota/HoN, yes the average is low simply because not all heroes have the same denying capabilities, It depends on their attack animation.

Also when considered your HUB/UI its way better and the mapping showing hero portriats and such is way clearer.

You know that's the one thing i disliked about LoL, the HUD, it takes out 30% of your UI.

HoN improved upon that concept, not necessary the % regen, specifically the new items or old items which were renovated, like heart.

LOL games are faster paced… not much farming … ganking and team fights can start at lv 1 … unlike dota in which you know whose won in 20 minutes but the game drags on to 60 minutes the game will actually finish in 20 minutes in LOL.

You'll be surprised how many times games were snatched from 99% expected loss.

I believe HoN will be a huge hit especially since it improves all dota concepts and does not rely on a game to work and the multiplayer engine makes your life so much easier. "Rating" is a key factor that makes a game successful, you don't find that in Battlenet for custom games.

As I said … since we live in Lebanon … we rlly do suffer when it comes to online play and seeing that HON will be LAN giving it a huge advantage over LOL for people like us.

HoN will not be LAN.

Re: League of Legends

heh its been a while since i last played HON ... so im not really fresh with all the new updates heh!

as i said xterm ... in the end it comes down to a matter of preference!!

are you sure HON wont be lan when it comes out? Cuz you know when you open the game theirs a so called "Lan Mode".

P.S.!! they changed the UI/HUD in LOL as well ... its not that screen covering as it used to be!!!!

Oh! I thought you were referring to the entire matchmaking system.

Yes, normal lan based games will be available offline.

Re: League of Legends

It's still in beta, so imbalances and broken gameplay is to be expected.

Btw, Icefrog (the DotA creator) is developing a game for Valve (the masterminds behind Half Life). My guess it will be a true next gen DotA.

Re: League of Legends

i hate to burst ur bubble ... icefrog is not the only dota creator most of the people involved in creating dota as guinsoo are working on League of legends. This is a huge misconception people tend to make thinkiing that icefrog is the only person responsible for dota. Read more about both new games before u go saying things like that!!!

Re: League of Legends

HoN is rather huge as it is. If it keeps up, expect it to hit E-Sport championships quickly.

It already did.

It replaced DotA in Dreamhack, world's biggest LAN tournament.

Guinsoo and Pendragon do not equal "most of the people involved in creating in creating DotA".

And if you want to get technical, in fact, the only one who was involved in "creating" dota is Eul (and he's not on the LoL team). Guinsoo tried to balance it and failed, and it was Icefrog who made DotA the way we know it.

Besides, I was not talking about LoL. I was talking about a new game that Icefrog is developing for Valve. Anyone with a minimum of reading comprehension would have gotten the point and moved along without trying to "burst bubbles".

Re: League of Legends

I know you were talking about the new game made by Icefrog but as a person of "minimum of reading comprhension" i got that as a point ... but what i didnt get is why you are trying to glorify or give credit to icefrog more than he deserves..... as for guinsoo failing thats your personal opinion the same way i can tell u that for example world of warcraft is not balanced and u cant say shit about it every1 has their opinion... and u cant balance a MOBA genre game the same way u cant balance an MMORPG... its just impossible.. and mainly ITS A TEAM GAME... SO SHIT ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE equal.... u cant have a support hero havent the same strength as a carry....

so all in all i did get your point ... i just wanted to make sure the man gets the credit he deserves and that a fellow lebgeek understands that.
as for LOL ... i find that pendragon and guinsoo are doing a good job but then again its my opinion on the issue im sure you have your own... BUT DONT go STATING IT AROUND LIKE A FACT.

ALSO if u go look anywhere commercials or w/e .... youll see them say... LEAGUE OF LEGENDS FROM THE CREATORS OF DOTA ALLSTARS  selected PC Gamers' Choice in 2009. now thats a fact....

so before  u go around calling me an illterate fuck... think before you type and go around making accusations. and that mate is the difference between opinion and fact. Have a great day!

Re: League of Legends

Guinsoo failing is not my opinion. It's a fact, he tried to balance the map several times, could not, and in the end just folded the whole project. As for which dev gets the credit, it's frankly the least of my concerns, and so should it be to you, unless you take this stuff srsly.

Anyways, no need to get angry, start cussing, and write in CAPS LOCK.

Regards.
