YABANPT - yet another build a new PC topic.

But this time, with a twist.

You have 2500$ and http://www.pcandparts.com

Go nuts.

This is a calling to all hardcore gamers and over clocking fanatics. I'll be buying the resulting Configuration and you get to do the over clocking

Re: YABANPT - yet another build a new PC topic.

I would recommend the following RIG:

Processor: Core i7-870 2.93Ghz    8M/LGA1156 (not the best, but more than enough)    $282
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master RR-UV8-XBU1-GP V8 Intel CPU cooler (you missed that, bad bad , this is a monster cooler)    $64
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD6 (well built, stable, reliable)   $405
Memory: Patriot PX736G2000ELK Viper Xtreme Triple Channel DDR3 6GB (3 x 2GB)    $161
Graphics: Inno3D Geforce GTX 580 1.5GB DDR5 Dual (when they get cheap, get another for SLI)    $679
Sound: Creative SB X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series (best of the best, I have it, will blow you away)    $185
Case: Cooler Master RC-942-KKN1 HAF-X Case (i got it, KICK ASS)    $221
PSU: Gigabyte Pro Odin 800W PSU (I would prefer the Thermaltake ToughPower, but due to this limited budget, we can't get  ) $207
Monitor: Acer H243HX 24" Wide Full HD TFT w/Cam (just a large monitor with HD resolution support)   $215
Storage: 2 x 1TB WD1002FAEX 7200RPM S-ATAII 64MB Black Edition (RAID 0 for fast game loading :) )    $160
ODD: Pioneer DVR-219L 20X DVDRW - Dual Layer SATA Black Label Flash (everyone needs an optical drive, something basic and simple, yet reliable) $29

Total: 2608$

I think the i5 2500 would be good enough and it is only for 215$, you would save 67$.

Awesome. MrClass, I'm not one to care much about sound, and I can't spare the space to get decent surround. Would some decent Bose headset benefit from the sound card? Otherwise, how about dropping the sound card and reallocating the cost to CPU or Memory?

Memory: Patriot PX736G2000ELK Viper Xtreme Triple Channel DDR3 6GB (3 x 2GB)    $161
Graphics: Asus ENGTX580/2DIS/1536MD5 GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB DDR5 Dual     $589
Sound: Creative SB X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series $185
Case: Cooler Master RC-942-KKN1 HAF-X Case  $221
PSU: Gigabyte Pro Odin 800W PSU  $207
Monitor: Acer H243HX 24" Wide Full HD TFT w/Cam  $215

Yeah, but I tried to match his setup for a lower price, now someone with a better knowledge than me can use those 215 $ to make it even better

Spending that much I would have gone for one of these babies. But pcandparts haven't got them :(

With the remaining 1.2k you can still make a sweet system, just be sure to get a graphics card that can actually power it :)

Ok, here is my choice! It literally destroys all the PCs you guys have went with - and its cheaper

Processor : 3.1 GHz - i5-2400     6M/LGA1155     $195.00  (easily overclockable)
Motherboard :Intel DH61WW w/VGA+Sound+SATA+Lan&PCI Express (DDR3) (LGA1155)     $67.00

Graphics: SLi Asus ENGTX580/2DIS/1536MD5 GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB DDR5 Dual     $1178.00
Sound : N/A - any built-in card will do fine, you're not going to make music and sell it with that.
Case :Cooler Master SGC-6000-KXN1-GP Sniper Black Edition mesh version Link     $173.00
PSU :Gigabyte Pro Odin 800W PSU  $207
Monitor :Samsung B2330 Wide 23" Full HD TFT      $178.00

Re: YABANPT - yet another build a new PC topic.

none of the listed pc's can have all benefit from there parts without a solid state drive
it wil boost the pc for a very high limit

i recommand spending the 300 $ remaining in this :

Intel X25-M SSDSA2CW160G3K5 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) w/ 3.5" Adapter included     $339.00

from INTEL becuase it has more reliability

it will be the primary disk (windows )

Re: YABANPT - yet another build a new PC topic.

All the above posted are .... weak at best. Behold raw power!

Processor :  Intel Core-i7 2600K 3.4 GHz. $338
Motherboard : Asus P8H67 B3. $158
Memory : Patriot Viper Xtreme Dual Channel DDR3 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-16000 (2000MHz).  $187.00
Graphics: Gigabyte HD6970 2GB DDR5 Dual w/TV. [TIMES 2. $948
Sound : Whatever. Just get an amp.
Case : Cooler Master HAF 912 Case. $116
PSU : Thermaltake W0356RE Litepower 700W$99
Monitor : Samsung PX2370 Wide 23" LED $257
Storage : Seagate Momentus XT 500GB 7200RPM 32MB 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ SSD Hybrid Drive. $127

Total USD : 2,230 فقط لا غير

If I had the money, I'd buy that. Keep in mind that pc and parts prices are "fuck it" when it comes to graphics cards. Also the sound cards are meh at best, for example the ASUS XONAR DG 5.1 is no where to be found.

Ninja edit: The power supply might be a little bit underpowered, all of the 800w ++ are NA at pc and parts.

Good lord. Guys! The budget is 2500$, you don't have to save money.

Later today, I'm going to consolidate the information and try to discuss the details of each part. Until then, avoid commenting on each other's specs.

What about a UPS system to handle the raw destructive power of the computers you guys have built?

Honestly, I can't really bring things together easily, each one of you has allocated cost differently.

Re: YABANPT - yet another build a new PC topic.

Ok then after Xterm's additional details, this is my updated specs:

Processor: Core i7-870 2.93Ghz    8M/LGA1156    $282
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master RR-UV8-XBU1-GP V8 Intel CPU cooler  $64
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD6 (well built, stable, reliable)   $405
Memory: Patriot PX7312G2000ELK Viper Xtreme Triple Channel DDR3 12GB (3 x 4GB)    $262
Graphics: Inno3D Geforce GTX 580 1.5GB DDR5 Dual  $679
Sound: Use Built-in Realtek HD audio $0
Case: Cooler Master RC-942-KKN1 HAF-X Case   $221
PSU: Gigabyte Pro Odin 800W PSU  $207
Monitor: Acer H243HX 24" Wide Full HD TFT w/Cam   $215
Storage: 2 x 1TB WD1002FAEX 7200RPM S-ATAII 64MB Black Edition $160
ODD: Pioneer DVR-219L 20X DVDRW - Dual Layer SATA Black Label Flash  $29

Stay away from ASUS products (i have some bad experience with ASUS boards)
Seagate hybrid or 2TB WD FAEX does not beat 2x 1TB WD FAEX in RAID 0
Intel boards offer very limited overclocking potential
SLI for now is not needed, a single 580GTX can run any game you need on 1920x1080 resolution
the HAFX case offers lots of space, it is a large case, air flow is perfect, cpu/board/gpu will have plenty of cool air
16 GB of RAM is pretty useless, even 12GB is more than enough. 8GB is good as well but you wont use the full triple channel potential
Gigabyte UD6 has dual bios, a must feature for any motherboard
Kingston Standard versus Patriot Viper => Patriot Viper wins hands down

While waiting for feedback from the rest, I'm setting the case to HAFX, after numerous searches and video reviews, I believe it's quite a winner.

Seems you all agree that I don't need a soundcard.

Using on board one then.

Off topic:

The memory cost just blew me away, I remember 512MB DDR used to cost 220$ when it was newly released, 2GB DDR2 used to cost 240$ when it was newly released, and now 12GB DDR3 costs 262$. Memory is really getting cheap.
