FYI: Yesterday 2800 speed tickets were issued in Lebanon.

The ticked is at 50.000 l.l

So that's a cool 93.333$ for the government in one day.

Anyways:
1- Do you know where is the website where we can check if we got issued a ticket
2- What is the technology used in the Lebanese radar ? infrared or laser?

1- www.isf.gov.lb. You can start checking it as of mid next week. All you have to do is put you plate's number and taraaaaaaa: you will see if you got any ticket :p

Lol yeah, but I think I'll be getting some tickets soon :S The speed meter on my car's dashboard uses the "mile" as the unit of measurement. So I'm definitely going to exceed the limit from time to time without even noticing it! :P

True. It's a very good initiative by Ziad Baroud. But unless they BAN motorcycles they've done nothing. Motorcycles are the worst nightmare for anyone driving a car.

With all my respect my friend, but American/European people know how to drive a motorcycle. They have pretty strict rules and regulations.

When talking about driving regulations, you can never compare the situation in Lebanon to other civilized countries. Unfortunately, we are far from being civilized. I do not think motorcycle drivers in USA pass the red-light and the police officer just stares like nothing has happened.

Same here.
But I don't know why I have a feeling I'll be getting around 500,000 L.L. worth of tickets as I just realized the procedure was being implemented today at noon (I don't watch the news).

The tickets are definitively a good way to make pple respect the law by force, but this is not enough ; some rules are too old , the road design is too stupid and not well studied (not studied at all), the placement of the red lights is even worse, and the bus/taxi/service is a nightmare . So it is good they have started with something, but i hope it is not just a phase (like for the seat-belts) just to to say to the pple ; look we did something ("terbi7 gmile" while it is their job that they are payed for and they are still not doing it perfectly)

The sad part is that instead of following the rules, a lot of people are now busy thinking of ways of defeating the system. Last night, my college professor suggested that we should all hang CDs on our rear view mirrors.

And by the way, those don't work.
